Mom-Mom, Am I Special?

When I learned I was going to be a grandmother for the first time, I was overjoyed. And when we found out she would be a girl, something in me came alive in a new way.

But underneath the excitement was a prayer. I asked God: How do I talk to her about who she is? How do I help her know who she is in You — before the world has a chance to tell her something different? How do I help her build healthy self-esteem early, so she doesn’t have to spend years undoing the rejection and self-doubt I had to overcome?

His answer wasn’t what I expected. He didn’t give me a strategy. He gave me a story.

That story became Mom-Mom, Am I Special? — a little girl named Zanai, inspired by my own daughter as a child, asking the question every child quietly carries, and a grandmother answering with the truth that settles it for good.

It would be two years before I understood what I had actually been given. In a season of frustration — looking for clarity in my business, feeling like everything I’d built was a string of disconnected pivots — I looked back at this story and realized the ROAR framework had been there all along.

Woven into every page, before I ever had the language for it.

What felt like scattered turns was actually one story unfolding. The foundation was always there — faith, and identity. This book isn’t separate from ROAR Consulting. It’s where ROAR began.
